How do I Know if my Child Needs Occupational Therapy?

If your child displays several of the following difficulties, they may benefit from Occupational Therapy services.

  • Balance and coordination delays
  • Clumsy, falls frequently, bumps into people or objects
  • Tires easily or appears weaker than peers
  • Difficulty with fine motor skills and handwriting
  • Difficulty manipulating small toys
  • Difficulty sitting up for tabletop or floor activities
  • Difficulty with dressing, using utensils and grooming activities
  • Seems either over sensitive or under sensitive to touch, visual input, sounds, and movement activities
  • Difficulty with transitions or adjusting to changes in routine
  • Avoidance of play grounds or motor activities with peers
  • Limited play skills and social interaction
  • Becomes overwhelmed easily in a busy environment
  • Lacks safety awareness with motor tasks
  • Fidgets, in constant motion and always seeking out input
