Improving Quality of Life
through Communication
Blue Ridge Speech and Hearing Center’s Occupational Therapy department provides a variety of pediatric services for children ages birth to twenty-one. Our therapists are highly trained in the areas of sensory integration and neurodevelopmental treatment approaches. This enables us to provide services to diverse populations.
Blue Ridge offers a variety of expansive occupational therapy evaluations. The evaluation will provide a thorough report and it will enable a parent to identify their child’s area of need in relation to sensory motor, fine motor, and gross motor skills. Our occupational therapists at Blue Ridge believe in a family centered approach. A treatment plan will be devised by collaborating with the child’s parents to develop goals and a plan of care. We will gladly consult with the child’s teachers, physicians and any other individual involved in the child’s care.
Blue Ridge offers individual therapy, which will provide one-on-one time with a therapist in a nurturing and positive environment. Group sessions are also available to help incorporate socialization and to apply the strategies learned with peers. Therapy is individualized emphasizing a child’s needs, strengths and interests. This enables us to provide an environment that will allow the children to feel successful with even the most challenging tasks. A strong emphasis is placed on parent education to generalize strategies learned in the clinic to your home and school. As occupational therapists we strive to allow your child to function in their daily activities at their fullest potential. We look forward to meeting your child and your family!
